In the office there is a flat screen monitor at 9 kilos and books weighing a total of 14 kilos which need a home. We can split the books between us. Cabin baggage is max 5 kilos – be enterprising with it. |
This is just an outline which may change!
Mikumi National Park
Are you going to Ngorongoro, to see the crater? (For those who dont know, its massive – 100 square miles – and its on the edge of the Serengeti National Park.)
No, but we may be able to go to Mikumi National Park
Size: 3,230 sq km (1,250 sq miles), the fourth-largest park in Tanzania, and part of a much larger ecosystem centred on the uniquely vast Selous Game Reserve.
Location: 283 km (175 miles) west of Dar es Salaam, north of Selous, and en route to Ruaha, Udzungwa.
The word Mikumi has nothing to do with number ten in Swahili, which is kumi but the name comes from a local word for Borassus palm trees referred to as Mikuky.
Most visitors come to Mikumi National Park looking to spot the ‘Big Five’ (cheetah, lion, elephant, buffalo, and rhino), and they aren’t disappointed. Hippo pools provide close access to the mud-loving beasts, and bird-watching along the waterways is particularly rewarding. The park has large populations of giraffes, zebras, elephants , buffaloes, elands, greater Kudu, wildebeest and roan and sable antelope. Predators include tree-climbing lions, leopards, wild hunting dogs and black-backed jackals.
